Whisk handle update

With the handle for the whisk sanded and ready to attach to the whisk, I had to decide what I would use to attach the handle to the whisk. I conferred with Rachel the fourth floor technician and she recommended using two part epoxy to ensure the bind between the handle and whisk was very strong. I also realised I drilled the hole for the attachment a little too deep so I decided to fill that gap with a small filler piece of wood when gluing the handle and whisk.

Once the preparation was completed it, it was time to attach the handle and whisk. I have worked with two part epoxy before and know that I didn’t want to use too much of the epoxy to have to wipe off the excess from the handle, especially because the wood of the handle would soak up the excess even if I wiped it off. Unfortunately, this still happened while glueing the two parts together. It doesn’t ruin the handle, it just leaves me with more sanding and prep work before putting the finish on the wood handle itself. Attaching the handle to the whisk was quite simple, just adding a little bit of epoxy at a time, ensuring the filler piece was oriented correctly, attaching the whisk, and temporarily fixing it to the handle with tape. I didn’t have any issues throughout this process besides the excess of epoxy.
